Wayne Cargill served in the United States Air Force after high school where he learned telephone and data systems. After the military Wayne attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale for aviation flight and aviation management. He started at Byerly Aviation in 2013 as an avionics technician, and was promoted to the avionics manager position in 2018.
